Arlington Greens: Please Donate $15 to the Jill Stein Green campaign for President

We urge all Arlington Greens and Green members to consider donating a small amount to the Jil Stein for President campaign so that the State of Virginia can
reach the minimum amount so that Jill can get federal campaign matching dollars. We need to get a total $5,000 for the State to get the matching funds; Virginia right now is at $2,600.

We need your help to put Jill on the ballot in Virginia and get her the federal matching funds so that she can wage a good campaign in the fall. Jill spoke here in Arlington last February and is an impressive candidate with a Green New Deal for America that includes: full employment programs emphasizing green jobs; single-payer universal healthcare; ending the Oil Wars abroad; and ending corporate control of U.S. politics.

If you can donate even $10, we can easily get the $2,400 needed. To donate, follow the directions below.

thank you

John Reeder
chair - Arlington Greens

The temperatures are near 100 in Illinois this week. In the Carbondale area, they’ve been working the local fairs. In Chicago, they are sleeping 10 to a room and putting in long days across the city. From Rockford to Champaign Urbana, volunteers for Jill Stein and the Green Party are pushing hard to put Illinois on the ballot.
We are closing in on the minimum signature threshold right now. But we need many more signatures to guarantee the Illinois Greens a ballot line. This is after all, still Illinois, and still 21st century America, where different rules apply to different people. We must have a large safety margin to make sure that partisan election administrators don’t deny us the ballot.
Your donation right now will help win Illinois. We are sending volunteers from across the country to Chicago and other cities. We are providing a minimal daily stipend for food and public transportation expenses. We have rented an apartment for two weeks so that volunteers are in one place and have a place to stay. And we will bring in additional paid petitioners if we can afford to do so. Your donation can put Illinois on ballot. Please donate now.

We are also closing in on securing matching funds for our Double Your Green campaign. Read on for the latest matching funds map and donation numbers:

Illinois is not the only the state that needs your help to get on the ballot. We have until June 30th to secure federal matching funds. Once we have them, we can win not only Illinois, but also ballot lines in another 20 states.
We’ve identified 16 priority states for our Double Your Green campaign: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Florida, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia. We need your help to put these 16 states over the top.

Arlington Sun Gazette: Greens Hope Third Time Is Charm, Nominate Clement for County Board
Posted: Tuesday, June 12, 2012 7:41 am

The Arlington Green Party on June 6 made it official, anointing Audrey Clement as its candidate for the Nov. 6 County Board race.

She will square off against Democratic incumbent Libby Garvey and Republican Matt Wavro in the general election.

Clement ran for County Board in the 2011 general election and the March 27 special election under the Green Party banner, and already had qualified for the 2012 general-election ballot as an independent. Her nomination by the Greens was expected.

In the March special election, Clement picked up 7 percent of the vote against Garvey (49.2 percent) and Republican Mark Kelly (43.5 percent). In the 2011 general election, with no Republican on the ballot, Clement garnered 16.5 percent of all votes cast, with Democrats Mary Hynes (41.6 percent) and Walter Tejada (40.1 percent) winning re-election.

Clement has strongly opposed the proposed Columbia Pike streetcar, saying the project is wasteful and will drive affordable housing out of South Arlington. As in past races, she plans to focus on basic needs over new capital spending.

Clement’s campaign Web site is http://audreyclement.org.

The Green Party has offered voters a candidate for County Board in each of the last six years. The party usually does better when there is no Republican on the ballot; in 2009, Green Party nominee John Reeder won 32 percent of the vote in a one-on-one race against Democratic incumbent Jay Fisette.

When Republicans are on the ballot for County Board races, the Green Party candidate has won between 4 and 7 percent of the vote, and unlike county Democrats and Republicans, the party has not yet developed a significant campaign infrastructure and get-out-the-vote organization.

Arlington Greens Nominate Audrey Clement as their Candidate for County Board on June 6

Candidates — @ 10:55 am

Audrey Clement

The Arlington Green Party officially nominated Audrey Clement as its candidate for the Arlington County Board in the November 6, 2012 general election at its monthly meeting on June 6. Dr. Clement, who qualified for the ballot in April, has run for County Board twice before. She has pledged to make fiscal responsibility and providing for basic needs over big ticket capital spending projects the centerpiece of her campaign.

Ms. Clement said that she will vigorously oppose spending $300 million in Arlington local funds for an ill-designed trolley on Columbia Pike that will only serve to eliminate affordable housing, and waste funds urgently needed for public schools and other county projects.

Audrey is a long time Arlington resident, an IT consultant, and holds a Ph.D. in political science. She has run twice for the Arlington County Board as a Green against Democratic and Republican opponents. She is an avid bicyclist, environmentalist, and mass transit supporter.

The Arlington Green Party has had a candidate for Arlington county board election for the past six years; in 2009, the Green candidate received about 32 percent of the total votes cast.
